FAQ

Do you offer pottery classes near New Orleans?

Yes! Wrenworks Art Studio is located in Historic Rivertown, Kenner — just outside New Orleans — and we're proud to be a favorite pottery destination for the Greater New Orleans area, with students regularly joining us from Metairie, Chalmette, and beyond.

Do I need experience or a reservation for walk-in pottery painting?

No experience necessary, and no reservation needed! Just drop in during our walk-in hours, pick your pottery piece and colors, and paint at your own pace. We'll clear-glaze and fire it.

I have no experience in clay/I'm not creative

We pride ourselves on being beginner-friendly. Most people who walk through our doors have never touched clay before — that's the norm here, not the exception. We break everything down into easy-to-follow steps, so you can focus on having fun and making memories.

What are your walk-in pottery painting hours?

  • Thursdays, 2–9pm (adults only after 6pm)

  • Fridays, 2–7pm, all ages

  • Saturdays, 12–6pm, all ages

  • Sundays, 12–4pm, all ages

How long until my pottery is ready to pick up?

Pottery is kiln-fired and typically ready for pickup about three weeks after painting or glazing. Your pick up date is on your receipt, and we also call you.

How long do you hold pottery for?

We have limited storage space, so pottery is held for 60 days before being donated. Your pick up date is on your receipt, and we call twice to let you know it's ready.

Is pottery painting good for kids?

Absolutely — walk-in pottery painting is a great activity for all ages, and we also offer kids-specific pottery classes on Saturdays.

What's the difference between pottery painting and pottery classes?

Pottery painting (PYOP) is walk-in only: you choose an already-made piece and paint it. Pottery classes are hands-on — you can learn handbuilding, wheel throwing, and glazing to make your own piece from raw clay, over a multi-week session.

Do you offer wheel throwing classes for beginners?

Yes — our Beginner Wheel Throwing class is a 4-week small-group session covering centering, shaping, trimming, and glazing, designed for people who've never touched a wheel before.

What if I just want to try it once before committing to a class?

Our "Try It" class is a one-time, 2-hour hand-building session — a low-commitment way to test out clay before signing up for a full class.

Do you host birthday parties and private events?

Yes, we host birthday parties, private events, and group experiences at the studio. Reach out through our Parties & Events page to check availability and pricing for your group size.

Do you offer corporate or team-building events?

Yes — we offer both paint-your-own-pottery team building and private clay studio sessions for corporate groups, with pricing based on group size and format. We can also travel to larger groups.

What should I wear or bring to a class?

We recommend clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty. Everything else (tools, materials, aprons) is provided.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes, gift cards are available for any class, walk-in session, or party — a great option if you're not sure what someone would like.

Do you offer mobile pottery events?
Yes — we bring pottery painting or clay activities to you for larger groups. Great for offices, schools, and larger private events that need a bigger footprint than our studio.

Do you host fundraisers?
Yes, we partner with schools, nonprofits, and community groups for pottery-based fundraisers. Reach out to talk through our options.

Is your studio wheelchair accessible?

Our studio has ground-floor access with a moveable small curb ramp. We have a larger bathroom in the clay studio that is available to those in the PYOP studio.   If you have specific accessibility needs, please call ahead at (504) 667-5530 so we can help make sure your visit goes smoothly.

Do you allow BYOB?
BYOB is welcome on Thursday evenings for for walk-in pottery painting and for private parties.

Is there a minimum or maximum group size for parties?
For PYOP: minimum 10/maximum 20

For Clay Studio: minimum 5/maximum 15

For larger groups we can come to you!

Is parking available?
We have parking right up front. In the event that is full, there is a free public lot directly behind our building, making access easy.
